We are officially obsessed. Going through the day checking and re-checking google images to make sure that, yes! Lana Del Rey does still look EXACTLY like the older drugged sister from Sixteen candles!

And finally that YES, she does have the same name as the man-hungry 1970's O.G cougar from Three's Company!

We really want to hate her.... It has been so long since these feeling of confusion, stomach churning dislike mixed with secret admiration and jealousy have reared their ugly heads inside of us. Almost exactly, since high school actually.

She is THAT girl!

Lana Del Rey is like a young Julia Roberts that you just absolutely, positively, Just do NOT want to be besties with... That is unless she wants to be besties with us and then, in that case, sure, call me and I guess we can hang or whatever.

All we hear about these days is Lana Del Rey.... Our husbands listen to her in the car, in the office and are constantly trying to convince us that her songs are actually really new and innovative and that her lyrics are amazing...

Yeah, thats true.. Ok, we really DO like the lyrics to Video Games..

She MIGHT even actually be a Gangsta Nancy Sinatra or WHATEVER.... But we know 96% of it has to do with the fact that home girl looks like this....

Lana is like every indy, musician , skater boy, graffiti guys dream girl... In the end does it really even matter if she was manufactured in a record company board room?

She wears short, shorts and red high top converse in her F*cking videos people!

She wears ringer shirts and Esther Williams style flowers in her hair!

If she was created in a board room, then there were some genius decisions made that day!

As much as we want to be haters, we kinda can't... And why do we want to be anyway? Why did we spend/waste time finding her before and after plastic surgery photos?

We live in HOLLYWOOD.... Who hasn't had a little work done? Although we do love the gals who openly cop to it, (because it's a little insulting to think we are that naive?) does it really make a difference? She was pretty in the before pictures anyway....

True story: One of us actually sent this before photo to her husband like,

"Look at your girlfriend before her lip job. Not trying to be a bitch..."

A. I was totally trying to be a bitch

B. his response was "Whatevs".

C. Seriously, just trying to remind you that my lips are ALL real dude.

See? That is some high school shiz... Why is this girl getting under my skin?

Is it because I don't like her? Or because when I borrow my husbands car I totally enjoy listening to her album and then change it to the Beastie Boys when I get out so as not to be discovered? Hmmmm?

Whatever it is we are torn... TORN, torn as her high waisted short shorts...

Things We Heart

Hot Lips

It is becoming pretty obvious that we are developing an obsession with lipstick.

We can't stop talking about it, thinking about it, and best of all, wearing it.

It all started WAY back last summer, when we stumbled upon the perfect shade of purplish, fuschia lipstick at Sephora (Psss. #11) It was everything summer should be... Bright and ripe. We called it magic lipstick and we have been very happy together.

We are pretty sure Marc Jacobs was spying on us... Because he totally copied us for his Spring 2010 runway look... It's ok, because we copy him ALL the time! (Except the bow and frizzy bang.. that wasn't us.)

Then we stumbled upon this crazy bright red lipstick we have had forever hidden in the back of the drawer and threw it on... WOWZER! We have not worn bright cherry red lips for so long, we forgot how good they feel!

We are now die-hard super lipstick fans... Because when you just don't really feel like doing much more, bright lips is just enough, they make you feel delicious.

I guess a lot of women have known this secret for ages...

But I have to say, we are super late to the lipstick party.

We have always been true blue eye liner & lip gloss lovers, and you know we still are... But something about bold lips just makes us feel very much the little lady.

Just look how pretty Emma Watson looks here with her side swept bangs and red lips... Holy Hermione!

We totally stole this lipstick guide from Handbag: It's the Spring Summer 2010 Lipstick trends. We have to say we love all the colors they chose.

We also are super in love with this true true red from Armani's new line Rouge d'armani.

Not only is this new formula said to last up to 8 hours... It is soft and hydrating. Such a break from the dry sticky long-lasters of the past.

We are big fans of the semi-nude face with bright lips.. It saves you from ending up with a clown-ish look... But if you are gifted with makeup, feel free to add a simple clean heavy eye, like Marylin Monroe... Very glam.

Careful though... You may end up looking like your addicted to love.

We suggest you go to the makeup store and test every color you think you can't pull off...

You may be happily surprised.

Monday: I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world... Neon makeup!

Listen, I am going to be totally honest with you. Up until I hit 30 (yep!) Miss Me's  makeup routine consisted of: face lotion, lip gloss, and if I was feeling wild...black Cover Girl eyeliner along the inner rim of my eyes. 

(Well, there was that brief stint in '91 with Revlon's Toast of New York lipstick, but ALL the girls in junior high were doing it, I swear!)

So, needless to say, my makeup advice is not coming at you with a wealth of experience behind it. But, I know what I like, I know what I want to try and I know what I think is beautiful. You can take these suggestions with that confession in mind.  

Lets get into it with my favorite new makeup trend. Neon makeup! Wow, I really never, ever, never, ever thought that the neon craze would raise it's head again... I lived through the days of day-glow zinc oxide, I was happy to see it go. So imagine how surprised I was all these years later to find that I was happy to see it come back! 

I just think it can look so pretty when you do this trend the right way. Like Eve in this photo above, who would have thought that electric blue eye makeup could look so fresh and light and pretty. You have to pick either the eyes or the lips and go heavy on that area, then go super light on the other. Because if you do both you will end up looking like this. And honestly who needs that? (Please check link, as I was so obviously NOT talking about Ri-Ri) 

Do as the painfully, absurdly beautiful Rihanna does here with the prettiest of hot pink lipstick shades. She keeps it simple with clean black eye makeup and a light blush. 

Another pretty pink pout on Alexis Bledel. This bright pink makes her eyes look SO blue! 

Want to try out the super pink lip? Here are a few great choices. 

Makeup Forever has this beautiful slick gloss, love all the colors but try Fuchsia, Bright Pink, Violet or Tangerine. 

For a more opaque look, try this Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited lipstick. They have a new collection of 9 shades of pink, formulated with an innovative pink hybrid pigment. Yeah, I guess that means that this color goes on really pink, not watered down with any other colors. This is pure pink ultra smooth 8 hour wear lipstick.With all these beautiful shades of pink, you are sure to find your perfect match.  Sounds like a win-win to me. 

You could also try M.I.A's amazing 2 tone lipstick from the cover of Spin. So amazing! 

Moving on to eyes, this is is the most adorable little Rainbow Bright pallet of eye shadows I have ever seen! I would buy this Pop Beauty Lid Neon, just to have it sit out on my bathroom counter... But maybe I should try and use it to achive something like this look from Gucci's Spring 2009 runway show. 

WOW!! Super sexy, sultry and bold. I wonder if I have the balls to try this look out. I wonder if you do? Why not? At least lets practice it in the bathroom alone a few times and see how we do. If it doesn't work out, we can always go with the safe route.
