Beauty-Fuls....Golden Arches: Get them right, get them tight...

You know how important it is to have a well groomed brow. We all do, but how do we get the well groomed brow with our going overboard with the tweezers?

We have all done it before... Gotten in the zone with the magnifying mirror and when we pulled back and blinked, oh my.... That eyebrow is way thinner then the other side! Woopsie!

That is why it is best to leave eyebrow shaping to the experts.
Particularly, when the eyebrows you were born with look like the love child of Martin Scorsese and Brooke Shields....

(Thanks Daddy!)

What? Have you seen pictures of Miss Me as a child? No, thats right and there are reasons for that.

But for those times when you just can't get to a professional to wax, tweeze, thread, or zap your brows into shape here are some pointers for D.I.Y.B
(Do It Yourself Brows)

*WARNING T-W-H says don't try anything but tweezing on your own! We do not heart home waxing accidents!

5 Steps to a Perfect Eyebrow Shape

  1. Trim your eyebrows. This will make a big difference in helping you look younger. Once eyebrows reach a certain length they start losing pigments at the ends. I love using a mustache trimmer set I purchased at a department store. It comes with a little comb and perfect point scissors. Comb your eyebrows up, trim any excess that goes beyond the natural hair line. Comb your eyebrows down, and do the same. It may seem like a lot at first but trust me, you will love the outcome.
  2. Take an eyeliner pencil and place it vertically against your nose. It should run from the side of the nose, mid-mouth, and by the tear duct of the eye. This is where your eyebrow should start; any hair that is visible beyond the pencil should be tweezed.
  3. Next place the pencil diagonally where it should hit the middle of the mouth, nostril, and outside the iris of the eye. This is wear your arch is. Tweeze a gradually line from the arch to the start of the eyebrow. Remember, GRADUAL, nothing harsh.
  4. To determine the end of the eyebrow, place the pencil diagonally across to the opposite corners of the mouth, nostril, and outside corner of the eye. Any hair that goes past should be tweezed.
  5. Place your pencil horizontal from the start of the eyebrow to the end of the eyebrow. The pencil should create a perfect straight line.

Make note, while we are all for taming your natural brow line, we are not for over plucking away your brows into nothingness.

Sorry Pam...

So, here is what you do, find the shape that is perfect for you and your face shape.

Working with your own natural brow shape follow the guidelines above to keep your brow from getting too short.

A well shaped brow can really make the difference between night and day for your looks.

Now we know all about the importance of shaping, lets talk shade... Because the color of your eyebrow is super important too!

  • dark haired people should go one or two shades lighter than the color of hair on their head
  • light haired people to go two shades darker than the color of hair on their head
As demonstrated by the always classy (uh-hhem) Kim Kardashian,
If you lighten your locks, please don't forget to lighten your eyebrows!

You will end up looking just like Madonna in the Papa don't preach video.

Looks like Italians only do SOME things better.

Here are a few of our favorite brow shapes, these ladies are all working different looks... But they are all working and that is the key.

Super thick and slightly bushy, a lot of weaker women would have shrank from such a strong brow but not Jennifer Connelly. Beautiful dark brows make her stand out in the sea of starlettes.

Gwen Stefani mixed classic golden era movie star and high-school cholita together and came out with pure eyebrow magic.

Perfectly arched they play up the beauty of her dark, dark eyes.

Landing in the middle of these to options, is every boyfriends fantasy girl..
Natalie Portman.

Just thick enough with only the slightest arch, the shade of her soft brown eyes matches her brows.

Okay truth be told, it isn't just the boys who have a crush on The Black Swan....

We suggest you go and get your eye brow shaped at least a few times a year and maintain that shape yourself if you are looking to save some moolah and precious time.

Now for some things we heart tips...

If you do happen to over-pluck, and it happens to the best of us, use a pencil orpowder and brush to fill in the missing brow... Naturally!

Keep a mini brow kit in your car, for emergency moments.

Don't forget to trim and lighten or darken your brows depending on your hair color. If your brows are feeling heavy don't over pluck.. try to lighten your brows a touch. It can make a HUGE change.

Try your best to stick to the rules of eyebrow shaping above, and treat yourself as often as you can to a professional eyebrow shape.

Beauty Beat: Beach Beauty Bag

Hey there you beautiful beach bum.
Sad because the weekend is over?

Well, here is a great way to spend your week getting ready for next weekend and all the rest of these delicious summer days.

Grab your pretty new "Jane Birkin-esque" straw basket, and load it up with all of your beach and pool beauty essentials!

Because if we have told you once, we have told you twice. The sun may warm your heart and lift up your soul... But it will kick your skin's ass into next Monday if you are not careful!

So the first thing in your bag should be a really great really strong sunblock.
We really love Alba Botanicals SPF 45 Water Proof lotion.
A. It is natural
B. It smells like lavender
C. If you rub enough onto your skin.... You start to look like Jessica Alba.
(*May not work for the non-dellusional)

Slap a little Stilla SPF on your face in the morning before you leave. But keep it in your bag for re-application. The key to Sunblocks working is that you put them on more then once a day, like lipgloss you have to be vigilant in your reapplication.

To even out your skin, you could use this great Laura Mercer tinted moisturizer.

We have also heard great things about this Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation although we have yet to try it.

But, just because that pretty little kisser of yours has protection don't think you don't need a big floppy beach hat. A stylish wide brimmed hat is way cheaper and less painful then a chemical skin peel!

Speaking of kissers, protect your pout with Miss Me's favorite... Fresh's Sugar lips!

You can go clear or Rose, but both of these lip balms have a yummy lemon-ish flavor and an SPF 15 so reapply, reapply after every salty sea water kiss.

Our favorite handy dandy SPF tool, is the fun and easy-as-pie Peter Thomas Roth instant mineral SPF 45!

Just brush this over your face, neck, and decollete at every chance you get for 100% non-greasy sun protection. Miss Me is constantly chasing her family with this brush trying to get their ears covered.... Everyone always forgets the ears!

If you are like the TWH gals.... Then a day without eyeliner is like a day without food.
Make sure you pack a really good, really water proof eyeliner in your pretty little bag.

Dior has a really good one.

Now for the finishing touch.... Your beach hair.

Here are a few of our favorite beachy-pool-summer styles.

Easy waves... Yummy.

Messy pony.

Braids into waves.... Double yummy.

And for the true bad-asses out there... Girly dreads.
(*Side note, in 94' with the help of Cindy Crawford and House of Style, Miss Me actually rocked "Faux Dreads" in her purple manic panic hair to the beach... And felt pretty darn cool.)

However you decide to wear your hair, protect those pretty locks from UV rays with Fekkai Coiff.

Remember there is a beach goddess inside all of us!

Keep protected, keep the makeup to the barest minimal...

Have fun! Next weekend will be here before you know it!

Beauty: Mirror, Mirror

We all know the deal... Somedays you try and avoid it, other days you can't get out of it.
It is your mirror, and your attachment mixed with your distaste for it is perfectly human.

Somedays, your mirror (and every mirror in town for that matter) can be you r worst enemy.

Somedays your mirror can be your best friend.

Aside from those horrid mirrors that make everyone look fatter and shorter... You know the ones. The bad mirrors. If you see them please feel free to smash them, I mean seriously, you can't get seven years bad luck for destroying something evil right?

Aside from those evil mirrors, every mirror is reflecting the same thing... And that is the way you look, but also the way you feel.

If you loved your reflection yesterday and you hate it today, chances are your looks haven't changed.... You have lost your confidence.

Why, oh why is it so easy to loose your confidence?!
Why, oh why do countless numbers of girls, boys and in-betweens not see ourselves as good enough?!
It is just human nature I guess, but today try looking in the mirror and picking out something really good... Your eyes, your dimples, the way your hair falls.... Pick something you can't help but love about your self.

Focus on that one thing all day, feed off of it. confidence is beautiful!
Love yourself and everyone else will too.

We have 2 warnings...

1. Being CONFIDENT is different then being CONCEITED beware of mixing up the two.
2. When you go to look in the mirror today to make yourself feel good...

Stay away from the MAGNO-mirror... Those things have no friends except your eyebrows.

Your beautiful.

Beauty IS the Beast...

Wax on... Wax off... Wax on... Wax off...

For centuries now... Ok, well at least since women got to stop wearing stockings with their swimsuits, women have been fighting the losing battle against body hair.
Why it is that women have to subject ourselves to numerous kinds of inhumane and humiliating rituals to rid our bodies of unwanted hair,

While dudes get to walk around like THIS...

Well, that is just another one of the mysteries of life.

Listen, we are not complaining... Well, maybe we are a little, but in all honesty we do it not just because the fellas like it, we do it because we like it.

We would bet a million dollars,
(*disclaimer we are not REALLY betting a million dollars maybe a million Doll-Hairs)
That every girl reading this thinks these legs are sexier then these legs.

We pluck and wax and shave and laser away at out selves, because it makes us feel good.

We are all for women's liberation and liberated women should feel powerful and sexy, so do what you gotta do to get there.

And sometimes the road to pretty is filled with a whole lot of ugly.

Your Va-jay-jay is a treasure, so please treat is as such.
You should NEVER fuck around with a cheap bikini wax, and please for the love of all that is sacred...

Do NOT let your friends give you a home-kit, unprofessional Honeypot wax while eating pretzels and drinking soda.

Better to have hair like this woman's spilling out the sides of your bikini then to mistakenly tear and wound your Coochie, you just can't put a bandaid on that girls... My goodness, teenagers these days!

Take your ass to one of the many number of professional and reputable salons in your area and take care of your business.

Now, we know that your Kitty isn't the only fur-ball you have to contend with.
It is very hard to keep up with the rapid growth of that annoying hair under your arms.

Sure you could just let it all fly free, but really.... No one is buying that "sexy in France" shit. Well, maybe some people are buying it but not us.

We love all of these women... But it says something that the photos taken of them with their hairy pits showing caused such a stir.

Exfoliate, shave.... Exfoliate, shave....It's true it's not that much fun.. But we know you can do it. We just know it.

Here is another double standard, and just another reason to put up a picture of Edward Cullen.... We know, that is not his real name, but it is to us.

On a man unruly, unkempt brows = Sexy mo'fo

On a girl... Not so much.
We are not calling names here either, lets put it this way, Miss Me's eyebrows will never have to join the hair club for men.

So, we gotta keep at it... Pluck, wax, thread, whatever you can do to keep those brows in shape.

We personally LOVE a good eyebrow wax. Leave it to the professionals. You will look better then you can even imagine. You just can't know how important your eyebrows are to your whole overall look.

Why spend a fortune on your hair and then skimp on your brows? They are right there smack in the middle of your face for the world to see... Make them good.

And finally, last but not at all least. Every women's arch enemy, leg stubble.

The painful memory still burns of a 13 year old Miss Me being teased by her older brother...

(*Sung in the tune of ZZ Tops "Legs")

She's got legs...
With Don Johnson stubble...
Ohhhhhh, She's got legs...

Wow, did I just age myself?

The battle against stubbly legs is waged in showers and bathtubs every single day... And it will be. Until the day that quality laser hair removal is affordable and available to every girl that dares to dream.

If you can afford Laser Hair Removal now... Do it!! It is by FAR the most effective and long lasting way to keep your skin silky smooth.

If you can't start saving and until then, keep on fighting the good fight ladies.

We will leave the body hair to the fellas.
