It was an incredible day for the U.S. Olympic swimmer Matt Grevers. Matt won a gold medal at the 2012 Missouri Grand Prix. He stood first in the 100 meters backstroke with a time of 53.57 seconds.
However that wasn’t his only achievement. After winning, he proposed to his girlfriend Annie Chandler, who is herself, a U.S. National Team Swimmer. Matt got her ‘Yes’ as another reward of the day.
It was a perfect proposal. Everything went according to the plan.
Interestingly, Grevers did not want to propose if he failed to win, as he told to a reporter, “If I didn’t get first, it wouldn’t have really worked out so well.” Chandler honored him with the medal after he took the podium. She then waited for the fellow winners to leave the podium. After they left, Annie went to Grevers to congratulate her boyfriend for his grand victory.
It was this moment Matt was waiting for. He wasted no time. He took out the ring from his right pocket, got down on one knee, and asked Annie to marry him.
The proposal came as a pleasant surprise for Annie. She was excited and shocked, while the crowd was cheering and whistling for them.
Of course, she said “yes” to the question, and once done, Matt put the beautiful and brilliant diamond ring on her finger.
It was really an extremely romantic proposal. Congratulations to the couple and applauds to Matt for making this proposal such a unique and memorable one.
