Inappropriate post title? Or, so appropriate it is sort of uncomfortable? Well readers lets just be honest and face the facts of our American history, not the history we learn about in grade school, but the real story.
Because acceptance is the first step.
But, listen we are not here to be all preachy and lecturing, although the Things-We-Heart-Girls do tend to get a little excited at the chance to voice our stances on Animal cruelty, charity organizations, and equal rights... But hey, you gotta take a stand right? And why not take that stand in knee-high Minnetonka moccasins?
So, today we will leave all the negative aside (and encourage you to investigate for yourself)
Today, lets honor the beauty and grace of the Native American by celebrating their fabulous style!
I know, I totally flipped the script on you right? But how can one resist the endless array of feathers, beads and fringe?? Seriously, how can you?
Because we all know Cher couldn't! Sister was looking fierce when she hit the scene with her album Half-Breed!
This summer seems like a perfect time to embrace this style, here are a few of the fashionable finds we heart!
1. Fantastic fringed sandals from Sergio Rossi ($$$$) are really fun and would look so cute with some teeny jean cut-off shorts and a deep cut white V-neck T-shirt. Easy and cute!
So, I kind of have a thing for this Torn by Ronny Kobo jacket ($$$), it just seems like the piece that would make anything else your wearing look super fancy pants the instant you put it on. Because you could be like, "Look how pulled together and stylish I am in my old tatted jeans and wife beater tank, did you notice my fabulous suede fringe jacket? Oh you did? Hmmmm, I thought so." (You realize that whole conversation just went on in my head, with myself... sad)
Ohhhh my,... you know, you would be super cute in this if you have the nerve, and we think you do. This Ra Creations feathered headband ($) really takes it over the top into Indian (or Native American) Princess style! Watch out Princess Tiger Lilly.
So, these Alexandra Neel heels (haha) ($$$) are just kind of insanely adorable and sweet. love the fringe, love the smokey grey suede, done & done. Wear these with a little white dress and a cinched high-waisted belt and you are the cutest gal at the party!
Ummm, remember having almost this exact vest when you were little and you played dress-up? Wow, well now it can be yours all over again! Really so cute and perfect! This LaRoK (we heart them!) fringed vest ($$) is simple and adorable and almost affordable.
Right about now you all are wondering, where oh where is the turquoise? Because we all heart us some turquoise! Well look no further. From dream designer Diane von Furstenberg come these beautiful ($$) beaded sandals. Yummy and delicious, they go with everything from skinny jeans and tanks, to an adorable little romper. They are all the pizzaz you need to make your day a little sunnier.
How.... Could you not love this little dress? (Sorry I couldn't resist the cheap pun) So simple and chic and easy and sexy. Now that is not an easy combo to come by, and I say if you find it, grab it quick!
This Antik Batik ($$$$) dress is a winner, sadly you will pay top dollar for this one. So have fun wearing it starlets of Hollywood, we will watch you in envy and wave while we proudly carry this....
Absolutely amazing and affordable fringed bag from none other then the Thing-We-Heart go to spot, Urban Outfitters. This Ecote suede hobo ($) will not break the bank, but will make you look every penny as fashionable as a bag four times the price.

Last but sooo not least, is this rad feather print Insight bathing suit ($). Worn with the right accessories, you got it... Total Native American style.
So rock it like you own it, but remember where you got it. And when fourth of July rolls around lets celebrate ALL Americans, the first ones, the current ones and the future ones dreaming of getting here.
XOXO- Things-We-Heart
